The Historical Foundation is working
hard for all SEABEES so that 65 years of hard work and
sacrifice will not go unnoticed.
Thank you in advance

Greetings, NSVA Shipmates:
My name is Buck Caldwell. I'm a retired Seabee and the
Webmaster &
Site Manager for the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation
Website and On-
line Seabee Museum store. Bill Hilderbrand, retired CEC
Captain &
Executive President of the Foundation, and I are working
on gathering
all the information we can on various CEC & Seabee
Memorials,
Monuments, Markers, and other forms of physical
remembrance and honor
throughout our nation and the world. We want to add some
new pages to
our web site to present this information in such a way
that people
traveling could find out where these memorials are
located and stop
by to visit them on their trips. The web site pages
would include a
photo of each location, a description of what it
memorializes, the
address, a map, and possibly directions from the closest
major
highway. If there is a separate website for the memorial
that will be
listed as well.
We know this will require a great deal of work, but we
feel it will
be well received by fellow Seabees everywhere. We also
want to spread
this information for general consumption and in memory
of the many
Seabees who have gone before as well as those who still
serve.
I have used the Dept. (State) and Island (City) listing
on the NSVA
web site to collect email addresses of as many officers
and locations
as possible. This will at least get us a good start even
though many
places/officers had no email address. Time permitting,
we might send
snail mail solicitations for input to each Island once
we've verified
identity, location, and status.
I would appreciate it if you could provide any
information, pictures,
history, locations etc. pertaining to any such memorials
that you
might have available or be aware of. Feel free to email
information,
or if you have material that would be better served by
mailing
(photos, pictures, etc.), just send it to me. My address
is as follows:
J. D. "Buck" Caldwell
14218 State Highway 104
Silverhill, AL 365761. BayouBuck@gmail.com
Bayoutech@gulftel.com
Anything that you send me can and will be returned if
you so desire.
Thanks in advance for your help.
