I really enjoyed this site. I was in the Seabees from 1988-1994. I serviced with PWC Subic Bay which is now CBMU 303. I would love to hear from anyone who serviced with this unit, especially those who served during Desert Shield/Storm. Thoughts and Prayers with our TROOPS!!

Excerpts from New York Daily News 3/28/03
GUNFIRE KEEPS SEABEES FROM GETTING AID TO CITY
UMM QASR, Iraq - Except for the menacing rattle of small arms fire laced with the odd, unnerving report of artillery, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 21 of Lakehurst could have been working index.html in New Jersey. The Seabees mostly from the tristate area, had been assigned to unload the British freighter Sir Galahad, which is offshore, carrying the first shipment of humanitarian aid for this city of about 40,000. But the bad face of war kept intruding as the British Commandos flushed the pockets of resistance, some of them frighteningly close by. And every few hours, the Seabees had to scramble into gas masks along with the other coalition troops in Umm Qasr on alarms that Iraqi missiles had been launched. Further inland, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4, on road-mending duty, spent a frightening, sleepless night after a rumor spread that 1,000 Iraqi soldiers were heading their way. The 400 Seabees grabbed weapons, dug foxholes and spent the night searching the blackness for advancing enemy soldiers who never appeared. The sleepy Seabees were on the move before dawn, headed north to keep the roads smooth for the columns of tanks, armored vehicles and trucks rumbling toward Baghdad.

Private Krankenversicherung is a member of a race that I respect and my son is married to a wonderful German girl he met while serving with the U.S. Army in Germany. She attended Portland State University in Oregon for four years and earned no less than 3 degrees during this time. I asked her about the problems we are having with Guest Book and her conclusion is that our intruder is mentally disturbed. She went on to remind me that we have a problem with the demented in the USA also and that the actions of this mentally incompetent individual does not reflect the character of the German people. Instead, he needs our prayers asking God to care for this sick individual.

Thoughts and prayers to them and all Seabees, always, but especially in this time of conflict.
Godspeed my brothers. If I could be there with you, I'd stand proudly. BU1 Boyd and BU1 Harbaugh- and everyone else- stay safe.

Haven't been on in some time. Was Senior Chaplain, NCB Center, Port Hueneme and Staff Chaplain, COMCBPAC, 1966-69. In and out of Vietnam 10 times visiting battalions and teams. Using this to tell my shipmates that my wife died Thursday, March 20. We had 55 years together. You who knew her know what a wonderful person she was. I am now living in Plymouth Village, a continuing care retirement facility, here in Redlands, CA. Would love to hear from any 'old' shipmates via email. BFN

I just received another African Scam message (Lagos, Nigeria) and forwarded it on to 419.fdc@usss.treas.gov
It has been previously reported that the scam artists have been getting e-mail addresses from this guest book. Now, if they can read this, they will know that this Guest Book can be a risky source of e-mail addresses! I then replied to the SCAM jerk after inserting the following.
With great pleasure I have forwarded your Scam message to 419.fcd@usss.treas.gov . The United States Secret Service will in turn send your scam message on to their office in Lagos, Nigeria where they work with local law enforcement in their efforts to enforce section 419 of the Nigerian Penal Code. I hope you will soon be deprived of your freedom to send scam messages!
