Served as BU2 in MOB 10 Navy Seabees, 1952-56, on Guam, Kwajalein Atoll, K-6 Korea, Iwa Kuni, Japan. I was a blocklayer. At K-6 Marine "mop up" base, our platoon of Marines kept North Korean snipers at bay on day/night patrols, while we built a concrete runway without experiencing combat. THANK YOU MARINES! Best buddy Bob Suter of St. Louis, and Fiori (east coast), Don (Detroit), and 7 other Seabees who worked together at those bases.
I was honorably discharged at Treasure Island, CA, in March, 1956. Looking back, I wished I had re-enlisted to serve in Iwa Kuni.
