My father served as a Seabee during WWII on Guam. He will be 90 in December, but you wouldn't know it to look at him. I would be very interested in knowing if there is an "island" near us that he might be able to join. We are only 10 minutes from Cincinnati, Ohio. Anything would be appreciated.

I was detached from CBMU 302 to NSA Saigon and assigned to NSAD Detachment India in Ben Luc on the Vam Co Dong river 1970-1971. I am interested in contacting the detachment CO LTJG Randy Lemke. When I was injured in '71 and MedEvaced to Long Bihn he drove all the way from Ben Luc to see me off before I left for further treatment in Okinawa. LTJG Lemke was one of the best officers I have had the pleasure of serving with. Unfortunately I was sent to the "World" from Okinawa and didn't return to the team. If anyone out there knew or knows how to get in contact with LTJG Lemke, I'd really appreciate the opportunity to communicate with him. Thanks for any help.

My Dad was a Seabee for a few years around 1965. His name is Mike McPeck (Michele Robert McPeck). I believe he was an equipment operator. He was originally from Poughkeepsie/Staatsburg, NY and moved to Northern Virginia in the late 1970s.
If anyone knows my Dad...I'd like to hear from you. He moved to the Las Vegas area and in 2007 took his own life at age 60. He donated his possessions to the Veterans Administration and I am haunted by his departure. I do have some of his things...including his suitcase & uniform and some other Seabee items from Vietnam.
Really not sure what I'm hoping for from this thread....i just miss my Dad and wonder why someone who served our country---even if just for a few years, struggled with finding work after having had success? He shouldn't have felt so alone. I also don't know why he wasn't honored at his funeral despite the cause of death. His tombstone includes his service alongside my Grandfather who was in the Army during WWII (he was paid tribute at his funeral) and my Grandmother is laid to rest there, as well.
McPeck is a fairly uncommon surname. My Dad also went by "Mikey" and was always comedic. His mother was Italian,so even with his Irish last name--he embraced the Italian New Yorker :)
Thanks for reading and connecting if you knew my Dad.

My father was a Seabee about 1942 and was responsible for the 2 day hunger strike in Guatacanal(?sp) due to the racial tension that was going on at that time. Is there any one who can help me research this? Thanks

My Grandad(Leonard Bensley Herr of Dingmans Ferry,PA) was a Navy Seabee in WWII and I have been trying to find out as much as I could about his life back then. I was going to join the Navy after high school but had a baby instead, lol. If anybody could help me find anything about him or even some pictures I would greatly appreciate it.You see he passed away in 2000 and in 2006 I lost everything I had of his in a messy divorce, including a couple of his metals. Please if anybody served with him and may have any information about him you can call me as well 704 956 4605. Thank you and God Bless.;) :!brokenheart:
