Comments: I found out about the authorization to wear the Seabee Combat Warfare badge. It is NOT a designation that one has served in actual combat. It is a qualification item, authorized when an individual has properly completed certain combat related subjects. It IS NOT authorized for members that served in combat. Just because one may have served in Vietnam, or another combat related situation they are NOT authorized to wear this award. I see many Seabees that served with me that are wearing this device, and know they are NOT authorized to wear it. To me, I believe this is close to being described as a "stolen valor" situation. If you were awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, be comfortable and proud with that.
Comments: Just wondering why I see photos of certain retired Seabees wearing the Seabee Combat insignia, and these guys retired before me. Just what are the quals required to wear it? I thought it was for completing certain courses, etc. coupled with being in combat. Thanks
Comments: was at the reserve center getting a new ID card for my daughter and talking with the Petty Officer she told me that she was at a meeting up in DC last month and was told that the Seabees will no longer be around after 2015. The CEC will still be around but the Bees won't, has anyone else heard this
Comments: Greetings NSVA Members, I could use some help please. I am trying to reestablish contact with NMCB 62 Alumni Group Member Gary H. Thomas, CM3, who was on the 3rd and 4th Vietnam deployment, Mar 69 to Nov 70. The last time we emailed each other was Dec 2011. Now his email address mailbox is full and the phone number I had for him gives me a constant busy signal. His last known address was 4459 Barcelona Ln., Little River, SC. I hope he did not pass away. Any help locating him, his email address, phone number or street address would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Norm Hahn, NMCB 62 Secretary.
