My dad was in the MCB-10 from 1959-sept,1964. His name is Gary L.Berg,He
was stationed at port Hueneme. I know he was also in the
philipenes, midway, hawaii, and guam.He was a CN and was one of the crew on
the USNS BARRETT (AP-196)in 1963. I'm hoping to find anyone who remembers
him.It would be neat to share stories of his service days. Thank You

Gene and Joe,

Your discharge papers should list all your Cb units. I know that many
record mistakes were made because Seabees could be working anywhere with
anyone that needed the appropriate skill at the time.

I need to ID The Black Seabees unit # so that they get credit on the
Monument. If You fellows could help it would be appreciated.

Check the reunion posting on www.112thseabees.com

If you dont have a 27th reunion , consider
27th special Shipmates invited to the 112th reunion. We will have lots of
Tinian pics and stories there.

Take Care
Edwin

PS: my dad is the Tinian CB shipmate - I am the battalion assn. historian

I was in Tinian with the 1036 CB attached to the 4th Marines, I believe.
Our detachment later joined the 27th CB Spl. The Black Sea Bees I talked
with in Tinian were from Puerto Rico

Forgot to mention that an unknown unit of Black Seabees was on Tinian. Some
of the 112th Shipmates ate with them because they hade great food!

We are searching for pics and unit name. This is very mysterious - like no
pics or records were kept by th USN????????

Anyhow, I would like to see them and every unit get credit on the monument
for the "Effort at Tinian" that ultimatley destroyed the Empire

Joe,

I just recd word from Tinian that a 6th Brigade SEabee Monument will be
built there this year.

We are attempting to gather all the CB unit names that served on Tinian
under the 6th Brigade Command

Please keep in touch with me about the 27th Special and other specials /
detachments/ cbmu's that you are aware of and spread the word if possible.

Your photos of Tinian and Okinawa were very familiar and of course
interesting. Your outfit and ours must have sailed together in the same
overloaded ships or convoys. In ref. to the B29s in Tinian, if my aging
brain recalls, the one we sponsored never returned from a raid in Japan. I
also somewhat remember that Tokyo Rose had allegedly assumed that there was
another Sea Bee Air Force. Thank you for suggesting I take a look at your
website.
