I am trying to get in touch with any former Seabees, who fought in World War II, who may have known my grandfather, Edwin S. Bell. My grandfather passed away on November 10, 2006 after a brief battle with prostate cancer. My grandfather was very proud of his service with the Seabees and I was hoping someone who may have served with him might see this. He spent his service time primarily in Hawaii and the Phillippines, and he was a cook with the Seabees. If anyone has any information, stories, pictures, or anything else that may relate to my grandfather my family would greatly appreciate it. I can be contacted at Shaner97@aol.com. Thanks Added: November 12, 2006 |

For those of you who were in Korea, a very good feature in today's Wilmington paper about an ex-GI who's trying to save one unit's memories of that war. You can see it at http://www.starnewsonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061111/NEWS/6111 10318/1050&template=currents My war was Nam. I was a JO with the 3rd Naval Construction Brigade in 66-67, spending most of my time with 30 NCR in DaNang. Added: November 11, 2006 |

For any individual or organization wanting to send a care package overseas, try "any sailor". It is on a web site with "any soldier". There are 200+ requests from sailors; including Seabees & corpsman; for items to be shipped. It tells how& where to get boxes and forms from post office. I'm waiting on boxes which takes 7 to 10 days to arrive. It looks legit. I think they could use a show of support with politics the way it is. Thanks. Added: November 10, 2006 |
