I collect war letters, war diaries, and photos and slides. I have an
archive of slide photos from 67 to 69 of the work of Construction Battalion
Four. I have reason to believe these are the slides of Commander Richard
M. Fluss, who was commander of this Seabee Battalion. One slide is marked
"Fluss" where the slide says "name." CB Four built the
20+ mile-long 8-inch pipeline, the 2040 foot long "Liberty
bridge." and did general work at camps Haines and Camp Evans. My
slides include scenes of the dedication of Camp Haines, which was attended
by Admiral Bartlett. FYI: Admiral James Bartlett just died in June 2006,
at age 89.

retired. (At least my liver is)
You guys on active duty are doing one Hell of a job. I know that its
because Seabees only know that level of performance or better.

On this day, let us take time to remember those that lost their lives due
to the actions of those that would take away our freedoms. Forget politics,
forget the petty arguements, let us join together , as one nation, to stamp
out these aggressors and rid the world of their hate. If it is necessary to
leave Iraq, Iran, Syria and other countries of their ilk in ashes, so be
it. They hate us, they are a threat to our way of life, and they want to
fight....well then...."LET'S ROLL!"

I am a life member of the SVA. I was a CM for 20 years from 73-93. I have
put together a Seabee webpage with all kinds of good info, pictures of
Seabee logos, message boards where you can tell your sea stories or shout
out for old friends, and a synopsis of my career. I hope you can take a
few minutes to check it out.
